We are delighted to inform you that in memory of a legendary legal mind from Bangladesh, Professor Shah Alam, ELCOP is organizing the 3rd Prof Shah Alam Constitutional Law Essay Competition 2023.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Constitutional Recognition of the Indigenous Communities of Bangladesh.” One can give a suitable title for his/her essay by keeping this theme in focus. Students of law, history, anthropology, political science and other related disciplines from any Bangladeshi university and Bangladeshi citizens studying the same disciplines abroad can take part in the competition.
The essay must be within 4,000 words, including footnotes. The references and citations must follow OSCOLA 4th edition guideline.
The deadline for submitting the essay is 17 August 2023.
A Jury Board consisting of renowned experts will adjudicate the winner/s from the qualified essays. If necessary, there may be a short interview of the shortlisted essayists. The first, second and the 3rd essays will be rewarded unless the Jury Board decides otherwise. The final result shall be announced on 27 August 2023. The award-giving ceremony will be held on 31 August 2023, on the occasion of the death anniversary of Professor Shah Alam at a suitable venue in Dhaka.
The essays shall be subjected to a plagiarism check. At the time of submission, the students must submit a declaration about the originality of the work on the second page of the word file. The first page shall mention the name, department, university, phone number, Email ID, and word count (with footnotes).
There will be three prizes-
- 1st prize: BDT 15,000
- 2nd prize: BDT 12,000 and
- 3rd prize: BDT 8,000
